MAIKO HOSODAEducation:
* B.A. in Aesthetics from Keio University * M.M. in Music from Mannes College New York based music teacher, Maiko Hosoda, has a great passion for sharing music with her students. She believes that music lessons should be a time that her students can express themselves freely. She takes advantage of improvisation, musical kinesthetics and a range of proven techniques to provide students with a balance of music skills. Maiko was born in Manchester, UK, and raised in Yokohama Japan. She began studying piano at age 3, and percussion at age 13 when she joined her school's brass band. She has earned a Bachelor degree at Keio University, Tokyo Japan in Aesthetics, a Masters degree and a Professional Study Diploma at Mannes College the New School for Music where she received the Mannes Orchestra Performance Award. She won the Mannes Concerto competition where she was the featured concerto soloist. Maiko Hosoda has also trained extensively in Carl-Orff Schulwerk and Dalcroze Eurhythmics and she utilizes those methods in her teaching. She has appeared as an instructor in Orff Schulwerk workshop in Japan in June 2012. |
