Having begun her piano studies at the age of four, Marian Schirrmeister has been an active piano teacher within the New York City community since she was fifteen years old. She graduated with a BM from Mannes College at the New School, and is now pursuing her Master’s with a double major in Music Theory and Piano Performance. Since 2010 she has performed with multiple festivals in New York, as well as the International Academy of Music in Spain and Italy where she was awarded for Excellency in Artistic Leadership. She has also performed with the Cerdanya Music Festival in France, and received third prize in their annual piano competition.
Pedagogy has always been a passion for Marian, and she strives to bring curiosity and fun to the practice of serious repertoire. She believes that every student is unique and special in their own way and adapts each lesson to their individual needs. While helping the student improve each week, her main focus is on establishing a technical foundation which allows the student to express themselves freely through the piano, and ultimately create a lifelong love of music.
