Nigel Fernandez is a percussionist based in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to being a performing musician, Nigel helps produce drum shows for numerous event caterers around New York City. He holds performance degrees from both the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Michigan. While completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin, Nigel toured the world with the wind ensemble, premiering new music throughout various parts of Asia and Europe. During his time at the University of Michigan, Nigel served as student instructor and eventually as the Assistant Director of Drumline for the University of Michigan Marching Band. He is a member of Epoch Percussion, a rising percussion quartet that has performed numerous breakthrough concertos with various ensembles, notably the Dallas Winds. As a recording musician, he appears in EA Sports Video games, and three albums with Reference Recordings including one Grammy-nominated release.
